I wanna blot the sunlight out this morning
I wanna ruin Santa Claus for little children
and make the snow fall a little more and a little harder
so everybody's stuck inside for a moment longer
earlier, I stepped in a puddle near my front door
checked my cell phone for a little box in the top left corner
found some paint chips on the upper rim of my drinking glass
said I'd take a nap and spent most of the day in bed
it's not ideal but it's my own way of feeling right
feed it candy floss and read it nursery rhymes
boarding up the windows and locking it inside
because it's mine
took a stroll through an endless wave of tired faces
we're knocking elbows and jostling for space
in a big tin can, as we organize our dreary days
brought together by a deadened (dead end) stare
and a shared malaise
we'll start an army of bitter malcontents
we'll shuffle up the mountain and plant our flag if we don't forget it
and when it starts to rain
we'll say things like this are so extra typical
hear our cry, the whimpering horn of the mildly annoyed
